The South Perth Foreshore is a chain of reserves, not a single lawn with one address. Sir James Mitchell Park, South Perth Esplanade, Mill Point and Clydesdale each give a slightly different angle across the Swan River. Decide whether you want the ferry, a playground, a picnic or a longer waterside walk before choosing where to start.

Find a comfortable stretch of river

The City of South Perth identifies several connected reserves making up the foreshore. Walk a section that suits your time and mobility rather than assuming the entire bank is one short circuit. Picnic areas can be breezy and sunny; shade varies between pockets of trees and broad lawns. Wetland and river edges are habitats as well as viewpoints, so stay on paths and keep an eye on children close to the water.

Link the ferry to a real timetable

The view of the city is especially pleasant near the Mends Street precinct. If you want to arrive by ferry, check Transperth’s current service and the final walk; a published estimate of ferry journey time is not a timetable. Parking and events can change access to individual lawn sections. For a city-bank perspective, Langley Park is across the river, but it is a different outing rather than an extension of this foreshore path.
