Perry Lakes Reserve offers wetland views and open recreation space in Floreat. It is easy to treat it as a quick lake photo stop, but the bird habitat, paths and grassed areas make a slower visit more rewarding. Choose a route that stays on designated paths around the water.

Give the wetland some space
The Town of Cambridge describes shaded lawns and a variety of passive recreation facilities. Its page also links a telling of Perry Lakes’ Noongar story by elder Neville Collard. Listen before your walk if you want more context for the place and its history. Watch birds quietly from a path rather than crossing the lake edge to get closer. Water levels and bird numbers vary with season; a shallow-looking stretch is still habitat. A short walk and picnic can be enough, especially if the afternoon is hot. The reserve should not be confused with the neighbouring former Perry Lakes Stadium site.
Find the right play area
The Town has a separate playground replacement project. If a particular piece of equipment is the highlight for your child, check the latest stage and any site fencing before promising it. Keep dogs under the rules posted for the area you use and allow for changing trail conditions after rain. Compare Bold Park if you want a longer bushland walk nearby.
