The Museum of Perth looks at how the city has changed through its people, buildings and streets. It now occupies the old telephone exchange building on Murray Street. Older guides may give its former Atlas Building address; use the museum's current directions instead.

Start with a place you recognise
The museum describes the history of Perth through social, cultural, political and architectural stories. An exhibition about a street or former business is often easier to appreciate when you can walk past the site afterward. Displays change; look at the museum's current exhibition listings if a named subject is your reason for visiting. Its address is the old telephone exchange building, not the similarly named WA Museum Boola Bardip in the Perth Cultural Centre.
Get the current address right
The museum's Find Us page specifies 410 Murray Street, with the gallery on Level 1. It lists 10am–4pm Monday to Saturday, free admission and closure on Sundays and public holidays. Perth's central rail and bus stations are a walk away. Ask the museum about lift access to its actual Level 1 space and any temporary exhibition changes, rather than assuming that an old building's stair or lift arrangement is unchanged.
The museum also publishes stories and photographs online. If you recognise a building in a display, note its address and walk past after your visit; some former landmarks are gone, while others have changed use. For local history research rather than a gallery visit, the City of Perth History Centre currently answers enquiries while its public space is closed.
