Matagarup Bridge is a pedestrian and cycle link as well as a landmark. It joins East Perth with the Burswood stadium precinct across the Swan River. Walking the bridge gives you a different river view from driving past it; it does not require booking a commercial bridge climb.

Cross the river at your own pace
The City of Perth visitor guide describes the 370-metre crossing. Make room for people moving at different speeds and follow signs for walkers and riders. From either bank you can see how the bridge frames the river and the stadium precinct; at night, feature lighting can change for events. A commercial climb or zipline is a different activity with its own fee, age and weather conditions. Do not treat its operating hours as the hours of an ordinary walk.
Check the event-day approach
Main Roads WA treats the bridge as an important pedestrian and cyclist route and assesses events with crowd safety in mind. A major match can make surrounding paths busy or subject to managed access. Check current stadium and path notices if you need a quieter crossing or step-free approach. The bridge surface is exposed to wind and sun; bring water and do not stop abruptly in the middle of bicycle traffic for a photograph.
