Beside the City’s Council House, these small formal gardens provide a quieter pause between St Georges Terrace and the river precinct. They are well suited to a brief sit or a look at the planting; they are not a substitute for the larger lawns at Langley Park or Supreme Court Gardens.

Notice the civic setting
The City of Perth listing highlights views of heritage-listed Council House, Government House Gardens, the Supreme Court and neighbouring Stirling Gardens. The City visitor guide dates the garden’s current form to the 1999 Council House refurbishment. Much of the planting sits above an underground car park, while some older trees were retained. That architectural setting is why a short walk here feels different from a suburban reserve. Leave time for Stirling Gardens nearby if you want a longer leafy circuit.
A short stop, with city conditions
Walk the paths and enjoy the space as a public garden; the City’s venue page is also written for wedding and event hires. A listing of bookable functions does not mean a casual visitor needs to buy a ticket. Conversely, a function or civic activity may take up parts of the lawn. Check on-site signs and current City notices before organising a group, and use the normal city footpaths if access through a garden section is temporarily restricted.
