Bibra Lake offers two rather different outings. One is a slow walk beside a wetland where birds and changing water levels set the pace. The other is the large regional playground on Progress Drive. Plan for the one you want; its playground gate hours do not define access to every part of the surrounding reserve.

Choose a wetland walk or a play session
The City of Cockburn playground guide describes equipment for children of differing ages and abilities, along with a Changing Places toilet. It explains the playground’s references to local wildlife and Nyungar heritage. For a quieter nature outing, the Wetlands Centre publishes shorter walks through bushland beside the lake. A walking trail and a playground have different surfaces and facilities, so choose an entrance and length that works for your group.
Treat the lake as habitat
Waterbirds nest and feed around the wetland. Watch from the path, avoid feeding birds and give the shore a wide berth after heavy rain. If the playground is your destination, check the City’s current gate hours and accessible facilities before leaving; the 8.30am–9pm timetable quoted here is specifically for the playground. Bring drinking water and sun protection for open sections. Nearby roads and the Wetlands Centre make a clear meeting point useful when visiting with several children.
