Five Days Without Overloading The Trip
Five days gives you enough time to see several sides of Perth without treating every day like a checklist. A sensible structure is central Perth, Fremantle, a coast day, a wildlife or family day, and one larger day trip such as Rottnest Island, Swan Valley or Perth Hills.
Leave one afternoon flexible. Weather, wind, heat, ferries, markets, venue days and school-holiday crowds can all make a planned stop less appealing on the day.
Day 1: Central Perth And The River
Start with Perth Cultural Centre, WA Museum Boola Bardip, Elizabeth Quay, The Perth Mint, Kings Park or South Perth Foreshore. This gives you a practical base before heading to outer suburbs or day trips.
Day 2: Fremantle
Use Fremantle for markets, prison history, maritime museums, galleries, food streets and nearby beaches. Pick two or three priorities, then check official opening and tour details before travelling.
Day 3: Beaches And Coast
Use a coast day for Cottesloe, Scarborough, City Beach, Trigg, Mettams Pool, Hillarys Boat Harbour or Fremantle beaches depending on transport and conditions. Keep beach safety checks current and have a non-swimming plan if the wind or swell is not suitable.
Day 4: Wildlife, Family Or Rainy-Day Attractions
Choose Perth Zoo, AQWA, Caversham Wildlife Park, Scitech, WA Museum Boola Bardip, Kings Park or Whiteman Park based on your group. Families should check age suitability, facilities, shade, food, pram access and animal rules before setting expectations.
Day 5: One Bigger Day Trip
Use the final full day for Rottnest Island, Swan Valley or Perth Hills. Do not try to combine all three. Choose the one that best matches the weather, booking availability, transport and the kind of day you want.
