Peninsula Farm at Wu-rut Woorat sits beside the Derbarl Yerrigan (Swan River) in Maylands. The surviving house is often called Tranby House after the ship that brought its farming family to the colony. A riverside café and the heritage house occupy the same broader site, but they have separate trading hours and entry rules.

A home on an older landscape
The National Trust calls the place Wu-rut Woorat on Whadjuk Nyoongar Country. Colonial settlers arriving on the Tranby received land on the peninsula in 1830. Joseph and Ann Hardey built the house standing today in 1839 after two previous houses were lost to flooding. The river, the changes to its banks and Whadjuk connection to Country belong in the story alongside the family's farming life.
House, grounds and café are different visits
The Trust's spring house hours are Saturday and Sunday, 10.30am to 1pm, with tickets to be booked; it normally lists the grounds as open daily. The one-day closure on 26 September has passed. Use the current booking calendar for your chosen weekend; an available café table does not establish house access. A café visit should never be presented as entry to the historic rooms. The café has separate hours; check its own website before travelling for food.
Explore the house when tickets are available, then leave time for the river setting. Keep to signed access and ask the Trust about specific wheelchair routes: an accessibility icon for the site does not show which rooms and paths are step-free. The National Trust also warns it can close for a forecast of 38°C or more. School programmes and special events have their own booking conditions.
On other dates when house sessions are unavailable, a café or grounds visit may still be possible, but check each operator for current access. For another riverside heritage house with different visitor days, see Woodbridge at Mandoon.
